Skate Helmets vs Bike Helmets

Have you ever considered using a skate helmet because it’s lighter, or a little more comfortable than a bike helmet? It’s a bad idea.

By law all the bike helmets we sell must comply with Australian Standard 2063.

Check out this video comparing the protection of a skate helmet to that of a bike helmet.

Paul & Mags Farewell ride!!

So this weeks shop ride is being hijacked by Mags and I for a bit of a farewell ride as we will be leaving Darwin in a few weeks!

We will be meeting out front of the Ski Club at 4:45pm on Saturday arvo, leaving at 5pm. We will be riding out to Charles Darwin for a bit of a spin around the trails there and then back through the city to the Ski Club for some farewell drinks and maybe some dinner. The ride will be of intermediate level.

Anyone who wishes to drop down to the Ski Club after the ride for a few, we should be back there around 7pm or so.

See you on the trails!

Fourty Bikes are at SpokesNT

SpokesNT now stock Fourty Bikes!

Yep, we have way more than 40 bikes, but these are the Aussie brand of well built, mid-range bikes for the discerning junior cyclist.

Fourty Bikes provide a quality build, and provide an alternate option between BMX and Mountain bike for younger riders (and their parents) that are looking for something different.

Coming in two options, the 409 is a 20″ bike, equipped with a coaster brake and a seat post, which extends higher than you’d find on a regular BMX bike.

The 540 is a street-savvy cruiser,  with 24-inch wheels and a three-speed grip-shift.  It was described by Steve in the shop as a perfect school-commuter, and comes with killer graphics.

MTB/BMX come and try day!

There is a come and try day for Mountain bikes down at Satellite City BMX track this Saturday. If you have ever wanted to have a play on a BMX track with your MTB then this is your chance! It is on from 9am till 12pm this Saturday.

It it FREE to come down and have a go but you do need to have full finger gloves, long pants or knee shin guards, full sleeve shirt and a full face helmet. If you don’t have a full face helmet that is not a problem as there will be a few spare down at the track to borrow.
