Spokes Saturday. We’re racin’

There’s no Spokes NT ride this Saturday.  We’ll be riding the Cyclezone 3 hour.   Check the link for full details, including registration details and times.

If you haven’t done a MTB race before, this is the best one to start with.  The course is easy and fun.  There’s no sheep stations.  Even if you do just one lap, you’ve participated.

If not, we’ll see you for the Spokes NT ride next week.

Spokes Saturday Ride – Blair Witch Trail

It’s Blair Witch time! This trail is a hidden gem lurking in the depths of the vine forest at Casuarina Coastal Reserve at Lee Point.

We’ll also make some time to ride other trails in the Lee Point vicinity.

This is an easy to intermediate ride.  Beginners are very welcome, however there may be some short sections you’ll feel more comfortable walking your bike.

Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start

Following the ride, do join us for a quiet post-ride refreshment.

Spokes Saturday Ride – 3 hour race preview

This Saturday, we’re going to join the DORC ride, to preview the 3-hour race course.  The race is to be held on the 27th May.  Full details are here.

The pace will be easy, and there will be opportunites to stop and catch your breath and have a drink.

As usual, meet at the Northern Entrance, Howard Springs Road.
Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start.

Bring sufficient water and spares. Helmets are essential.

No Spokes NT Ride this weekend.

There’s no Spokes NT Ride this weekend, we’ll be supporting the Grand Opening of the Satellite City BMX Club‘s amazing new facility.

If you’re not aware, Satellite City now have a fully roofed, UCI standard BMX race track.  It is truly incredible.

And….On Sunday, we’ll be closed.  It’s come and try day down at the BMX track.  We’ll be supporting the BMX Club with a pop-up shop t the track.

Come and try BMX!  It’s free and it’s fun.

Spokes Saturday – Darwin Urban Ride

Due to popular demand, we’ll do another urban ride this weekend.

Meeting at Stokes Hill Wharf, we’ll explore some areas around the Darwin CBD.   This ride is suitable for riders of all abilities,  all the trickier sections are optional, with easy-to-ride alternatives.

Meet: Stokes Hill Wharf.
Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start.

Following the ride, we’ll be stopping at the wharf eatery for dinner if you’d like to join us.

Spokes NT Ride – DORC Pairs Race Preview

This Saturday, we’re going to preview the course for the DORC Pairs Race.  The race runs an easy 5km loop through the Casuarina Coastal Reserve.

We’ll preview the course at an easy pace, with stops to catch up and re-hydrate.  Following that, we’ll probably move along to some other trails in the Lee Point area.

This is an easy ride, and is suitable for beginner riders.

Spokes Saturday Ride – Sanderson Middle School

We’re off to School!  This Saturday, we’re going to ride the fun tracks at Sanderson Middle School.

They’re a fusion of BMX, Pump Track, Berms, rollers and table-tops for your biking pleasure.  A great place for basic riders to gain confidence, or for experienced riders to go big.

Suitable for all skill levels.

Spokes NT Ride – Pine Forest

Whilst we wait for the weather and sogginess of some of the other trails to recede, we’re back to the Howard Springs trails again.

Pine Forest ride!  Life is good.  If you’re a new-comer to trail riding, the Pine Forest is the perfect place to start,  The trails are easy, and the Spokes Ride are at an easy pace, with plenty of stops to catch up.

Meet: Pine Forest  Northern Entrance, Howard Springs Road.
Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start

Bring: Yer bike, water and basic spares.  Helmets are essential!

Spokes Saturday – Trail Maintenance. Cancelled

On account of the ordinary weather, which looks like it is set it, the trail maintenance for this afternoon is cancelled.

It’s not often we don’t do a ride, but this Saturday, we’re going to give some love back to the trails.

With the DORC 2 hour race scheduled for Sunday, we thought it would be a good time to keep our powder dry (hah! Did you hear that, wet season?), and spend some time trimming the Spokes Track.

Please bring: Sturdy shoes, & sun protection.
If you have sturdy garden implements like a rake, shovel or mattock, they may be helpful.  Or if you have a good brushcutter, that too may be put to good use.

Spokes Saturday ride – DORC Race Preview

This week, we’re going to preview the course for the DORC 2-hour race.

If you haven’t done a MTB race before, they’re a LOT of fun and nothing to be intimidated by. The course is easy, the people are friendly and there will be sausages on race day.

By way of preparation, we’re going to ride the course at a leisurely pace this Saturday.  The pace will be leisurely, and there will be plenty of chances to catch up.

Meet: Corner of Stow Road and Howard Springs Road

Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start
Difficulty: Easy Peasy!

Bring plenty of water (it’s hot!) and basic spares.  Helmets essential.
