Spokes Saturday Ride – Sanderson Middle School

We’re off to School!  This Saturday, we’re going to ride the fun tracks at Sanderson Middle School.

They’re a fusion of BMX, Pump Track, Berms, rollers and table-tops for your biking pleasure.  A great place for basic riders to gain confidence, or for experienced riders to go big.

Suitable for all skill levels.

Spokes NT Ride – Pine Forest

Whilst we wait for the weather and sogginess of some of the other trails to recede, we’re back to the Howard Springs trails again.

Pine Forest ride!  Life is good.  If you’re a new-comer to trail riding, the Pine Forest is the perfect place to start,  The trails are easy, and the Spokes Ride are at an easy pace, with plenty of stops to catch up.

Meet: Pine Forest  Northern Entrance, Howard Springs Road.
Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start

Bring: Yer bike, water and basic spares.  Helmets are essential!

Spokes Saturday – Trail Maintenance. Cancelled

On account of the ordinary weather, which looks like it is set it, the trail maintenance for this afternoon is cancelled.

It’s not often we don’t do a ride, but this Saturday, we’re going to give some love back to the trails.

With the DORC 2 hour race scheduled for Sunday, we thought it would be a good time to keep our powder dry (hah! Did you hear that, wet season?), and spend some time trimming the Spokes Track.

Meet at the Spokes Track Trail Head.  Corner of Temple Terrace and Stuart Highway.

Please bring: Sturdy shoes, & sun protection.
If you have sturdy garden implements like a rake, shovel or mattock, they may be helpful.  Or if you have a good brushcutter, that too may be put to good use.

Spokes Saturday ride – DORC Race Preview

This week, we’re going to preview the course for the DORC 2-hour race.

If you haven’t done a MTB race before, they’re a LOT of fun and nothing to be intimidated by. The course is easy, the people are friendly and there will be sausages on race day.

By way of preparation, we’re going to ride the course at a leisurely pace this Saturday.  The pace will be leisurely, and there will be plenty of chances to catch up.

Meet: Corner of Stow Road and Howard Springs Road

Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start
Difficulty: Easy Peasy!

Bring plenty of water (it’s hot!) and basic spares.  Helmets essential.

Spokes NT Saturday ride – Urban

Whilst the rain-sodden trails are still drying, we’ll do urban ride. It’s great fun to explore the ride-able areas around the Darwin City area. There will be a few stops to practice skills including ledges, step-ups, drop-offs and stair rides. There will also be a couple of hills and some other fun places.

The best bit is, all of the trickier sections are optional, with easy-to-ride alternatives. This ride is great for all abilities.

Meet: Stokes Hill Wharf.
Time: 4:45 for a 5pm start.

Following the ride, we’ll be stopping at the wharf eatery for dinner if you’d like to join us.

Spokes NT Saturday Ride – Old Pine Forest

We’re returning to an often forgotten, old favourite trail – the original Pine forest trail.

The Pine forest is easy, with no hills or scary obstacles.  Just sweet flowing singletrack.  It’s perfect for beginners and experienced riders alike.

There will be plenty of stops to catch up and re-hydrate.

Spokes NT Saturday – Sanderson Middle School

This Saturday, we’re going to ride the fun tracks at Sanderson Middle School.   This is a short loop of a little downhill, some rollers, tabletops, jumps, berms and fun stuff.  Ride as much or as little as you like.
This has something for everyone, of all skill levels and is suitable for all ages.

Spokes Saturday Ride – Pine Forest. Again.

Whilst we wait for most of the rain sodden trails to dry out a little, we’ll head back to our all-weather favourite trails.  The Pine Forest.   It’s perfect for beginners and experienced riders alike.

The trail pixies have installed some new sweet sections and have built up some of the previously existing jumps.  When we rode in the reverse direction last week, the jumps didn’t work.  This time we’ll hit them in the right direction.  (If you’re not feeling so confident, you can roll the jumps or ride around them).

Spokes Saturday Ride – Enip Tserof

If you can work out the puzzle clue, you’ll know that we’re going to ride the Pine Forest.  In reverse.

One of our favourite places to ride, the Pine Forest is super easy and perfect for beginners.

Spokes NT Ride – Spokes Track/Palmy Urban

This Saturday’s Spokes NT ride will take in some of the scenery around the Palmerston area.  We’re going to start with the Spokes Track, then, we’ll take in the Palmerston Escarpment trails.

The Spokes Track is a little cut up at the moment, associated with the works from the new Hospital, but we’re going to ride it whilst it’s still there.  This will be an intermediate level ride.   Beginners are most welcome, there may be some obstacles you’ll feel better walking your bike around.
